Why I Focus On Self- Development Every Day
“Loss” The Great Motivator
Losing a parent at a very young age is, and of itself motivating, and as life continues the losses keep coming. When you know your security has shifted dramatically, where do you turn?
For me, I turned inward. I figured out pretty quickly that I have ME to get ME where I wanted to go, not that I didn’t have a loving and supportive mother and extended family, I just knew in my gut that I had to do this in the end, so why not sooner than later.
I always knew instinctively that my life was guided by “something/ someone” much bigger than myself. We got through a significant death and life still progressed, grew and blossomed, to a young girl that was a reason enough to be “over the moon happy and grateful”!
By 20 years old I had special people on my path that became mentors, life partners and the greatest teachers for my soul development.
Very early on I became a sponge for everything spiritual and anything that helped me find my true self. I realized then that this was something that had to become part of my daily life. If I wanted to “stay sane”, and in touch with how I was feeling I needed to “feed” my mind every single day in one way or another. My mentors made sure that happened, with books, meditation, programs and of course Yoga.
Why Self- Development?
We all have our own reasons for looking within. At the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to sit in quiet and think about where you want to be a year from now. Monetary success isn’t the driving force for everyone, “Who do I want to “Be” is more the question for many. Here are my top 10 reasons I focus on self- development:
- Self- Esteem
- Keeping an open heart
- Forgiveness of self and others
- Love of self and others
- Staying on my path
What are your reasons for participating in your own growth? I would love to hear your thoughts. firstname.lastname@example.org
